Rockets look to find shooting stroke against Grizzlies

Dec 5, 2007 - 3:26 PM Memphis (6-11) at Houston (9-9) 8:30 pm EST

HOUSTON (Ticker) - The Houston Rockets' mediocre start may be a result of their inability to find the bottom of the net.

The Rockets try to end their shooting woes and a two-game slide on Wednesday when they face the Memphis Grizzlies.

Houston is shooting just 44 percent from the field this season, ranking 21st in the NBA. The Rockets have been even colder from 3-point range, hitting 31 percent from the arc - better than only the Philadelphia 76ers, the New Jersey Nets and the Chicago Bulls.

The Rockets shot 42.7 percent from the floor during an eight-point loss against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday after making 44.6 percent of their shots against the Golden State Warriors.

However, Houston was a combined 10-of-39 from 3-point range in the two losses, which came after a three-game winning streak.

The Grizzlies had won three of four games before suffering a 106-105 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.

Rudy Gay scored two of his 30 points on a follow-shot after Juan Carlos Navarro missed a jumper to put Memphis ahead 105-104 with two seconds to play. However, Travis Outlaw hit a running jump shot at the buzzer to deny the Grizzlies their second consecutive win.
