Durant, Sonics aim for third straight win

Dec 9, 2007 - 2:13 PM Seattle (5-15) at New Orleans (13-7) 7:00 pm EST

NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) - Kevin Durant and the Seattle SuperSonics look to record their first three-game winning streak since last season on Sunday.

Durant will try to guide the SuperSonics past the New Orleans Hornets in the first stop of a five-game road trip.

On Friday, the 19-year-old rookie dominated the fourth quarter en route to a season high-tying 35 points to help the Sonics beat the Milwaukee Bucks, 104-98.

"They went to him down the stretch," Milwaukee coach Larry Krystkowiak said. "This is the kind of player everyone anticipated coming into this league. He got some confidence early, and I thought we did a decent job on him, he just made some big plays."

Seattle split four meetings against the Hornets last season, but the Sonics haven't won on the road in the series in three trips.

New Orleans picked up its third win in four game behind the efforts of Chris Paul's career-high 43-point performance in Friday's 118-116 overtime victory over Memphis.

The Hornets have won 12 straight overtime games dating to the 2005-06 season - including three this campaign.
