Warriors aim to continue torrid pace vs. Lakers
Dec 9, 2007 - 2:23 PM Golden State (11-8) at LA Lakers (11-8) 9:30 pm ESTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Golden State Warriors travel to the Staples Center on Sunday to meet the Pacific Division rival Los Angeles Lakers.
Without versatile forward and team captain Stephen Jackson, Golden State lost its first six contests by an average of more than 11 points despite scoring over 107 points per game.
Since Jackson's return from a league-imposed suspension, however, the Warriors have reeled off 11 victories in their next 13 games, particularly because they have allowed 16 fewer points per game than they did during their season-opening skid.
Jackson scored 28 points on Friday as Golden State overcame an 18-point deficit to beat Miami, 120-113.
However, the Warriors have struggled historically against the Lakers, who have won eight straight games vs. Golden State and 24 of their last 26 home games against them dating to the 1994-95 season.
Los Angeles should be fresh for Sunday's game, getting three days' of rest since they overcame 51 points from the Denver Nuggets' Allen Iverson to record a 111-107 win on Wednesday.
