Slumping Jazz look to end slide vs. Sonics

Dec 15, 2007 - 3:31 PM Seattle (7-17) at Utah (13-11) 9:00 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) - The Utah Jazz will try to snap their longest losing streak in nearly two years when they host the Seattle SuperSonics on Saturday.

The Jazz have lost six straight, their longest slide since dropping nine consecutive in March, 2005.

Despite 22 points and 12 rebounds from Carlos Boozer, Utah couldn't correct its dismal play on Friday, suffering a 99-91 setback to the Trail Blazers - its second loss to Portland in four days.

"I wouldn't call it desperation time," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "We are not going to panic. Hopefully, our players do a better job of understanding what we have to do to get going again."

The Jazz have allowed 107.5 points per game during their slide and have been oustscored by an average of 7.5 points.

Things won't get easier for the Jazz against the Sonics. Utah has lost five of its last eight games against Seattle - including four of its last six at home.

To make matters worse for Utah, the Sonics enter the game after back-to-back victories over the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves. However, Seattle has failed to win three straight at any point this season.
