Surging Warriors set to face Pistons

Dec 16, 2007 - 1:58 PM Golden State (13-10) at Detroit (16-7) 12:30 pm EST

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Baron Davis and the Golden State Warriors are rounding into the form that made them one of the most exciting and dangerous teams in the NBA last season.

The Warriors will take their high-scoring show on the road on Sunday when they visit the Detroit Pistons.

Golden State fought for a tough, 108-106, win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, with Davis knocking down a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left to give his team a four-point cushion. It was the Warriors' 14th win in their last 18 games after beginning the season 0-6.

The final loss in that season-opening skid was a 111-104 setback to the Pistons on November 14 in which Golden State squandered a 22-point lead. The current version of the Warriors is much different due to the fact that captain Stephen Jackson, who was suspended the first seven games of the season, has returned to the lineup.

Detroit is due to have a different look on Sunday as well, as the team expects its two newest members - Walter Herrmann and Primoz Brezec - to be on the court. The Pistons sent center Nazr Mohammed to the Charlotte Bobcats for Brezec and Herrmann on Friday.

Detroit has won eight of its last 10 games, including a 91-81 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. Chauncy Billups led the change against the Hawks with 23 points.
