Knicks look to build momentum, halt road slide

Dec 21, 2007 - 2:31 PM New York (8-17) at Charlotte (9-14) 7:00 pm EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- After a highly publicized rally calling for the job of Isiah Thomas, the New York Knicks showed the heart and toughness their coach wasn't sure they had.

The Knicks look to continue the momentum built from their best win of the season when they meet the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday.

New York posted a 108-90 win on Wednesday over defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland, leading by as many as 24 points during the rout.

The win came just two days after Thomas questioned his team's ability to fight through adversity following a 119-92 loss to Indiana.

Earlier on Wednesday, a group of Knicks fans rallied outside Madison Square Garden, holding a signed pink placard urging Knicks owner James Dolan to fire Thomas.

The good feeling created by the blowout win may be short-lived if New York cannot improved on its 1-9 road record and 2-4 all-time mark in Charlotte.

The Bobcats, who have split the last six games, are coming off a 98-92 win over Utah on Wednesday to improve to 8-6 at home.

Charlotte trailed by 12 points with less than six minutes left, but finished the game on a 24-6 run led by Gerald Wallace and Jason Richardson, who combined for 50 points.
