Roy, Blazers aim for 10th straight win

Dec 21, 2007 - 4:18 PM Denver (15-10) at Portland (14-12) 10:00 pm EST

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers are perhaps the hottest team in the league, and cooling off isn't something they're interested in.

The red-hot Trail Blazers look to push their winning streak to 10 games when they host the Denver Nuggets on Friday.

Brandon Roy had 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as Portland coasted to a 101-96 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old reigning Rookie of the Year, Roy has been stoppable during Portland's impressive streak, pouring in at least 20 points eight times.

"(Roy's) not just having a hot streak," Portland coach Nate McMillan said. "What we're seeing out of him is what he is capable of doing."

The Trail Blazers have already posted a victory against Denver during this streak, breezing to an 11-point win on the road last Sunday.

Portland hasn't captured 10 straight wins since the 2001-02 squad won 12 consecutive games.

Anthony Carter nailed the game-winning shot with 0.8 seconds left as the Nuggets snapped a two-game slide with a thrilling 112-111 double-overtime win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday.
