Suddenly high-scoring Timberwolves go for two in a row

Dec 22, 2007 - 3:53 PM Minnesota (4-21) at New Orleans (16-10) 8:00 pm EST

NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) - The Minnesota Timberwolves will go for consecutive wins for the first time this season when they visit the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday.

The Timberwolves scored a season-high 131 points in a win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, getting significant contributions from two of the key pieces in last summer's Kevin Garnett trade, Sebastian Telfair and Al Jefferson.

Telfair directed the high-powered attack, dishing out 11 assists to go along with 25 points, while Jefferson dominated the paint, pulling down 13 rebounds to go along with his team-high 29 points.

The Hornets may be just the team to give Minnesota its first consecutive wins of the season. The Timberwolves can claim a triumph over New Orleans on November 26 as one of their four wins this season.

The Hornets have won their past three games at home, and won Thursday at Seattle. Point guard Chris Paul has thrust himself into the conversation as one of the elite players in the league with his play thus far, averaging 21 points and 9.8 assists per contests.

Paul scored 31 points and dished out 11 assists in the November 26th contest, but New Orleans could not combat a combined 41 points from Telfair and backcourt-mate Marko Jaric.
