Grizzlies hope for better results at home against Hornets

Dec 26, 2007 - 12:50 PM New Orleans (17-10) at Memphis (8-19) 8:00 pm EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - Not much has gone right for the Memphis Grizzlies this season, but the team has been competitive at home.

Memphis hosts New Orleans on Wednesday looking to snap a two-game losing streak. The Grizzlies have lost three of four, including a 99-97 home loss on Saturday to Philadelphia on a buzzer-beater by Andre Iguodala.

Pau Gasol had 31 points and 13 rebounds for Memphis, including nine points in the final 78 seconds. Gasol's inside basket with 5.2 seconds left tied it at 97-97, setting the stage for Iguodala's 20-foot jumper. The Grizzlies are 3-10 on the road, but have won five of 14 home games.

New Orleans has won its last two games, including a 110-76 rout of sluggish Minnesota on Saturday. Chris Paul had 19 points, 15 assists and five steals in only 30 minutes for the Hornets.

"We see we had a team under .500 and when we play those teams we have to take advantage of it," Paul said. "It's all a part of us getting that killer mentality where if we have a lead we don't let the other team back in the game."

New Orleans has won both meetings this season in overtime by two points.
