Nets hope to find winning touch at home vs. Wizards

Dec 28, 2007 - 3:47 PM Washington (14-13) at New Jersey (12-16) 7:30 pm EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) - The New Jersey Nets are one of the rare teams in the NBA that enjoys more success on the road than at home.

They will be looking to improve their home mark when they welcome the Washington Wizards to town on Friday night.

A 6-5 team away from home, the Nets own just a 6-11 mark at the IZOD Center, dropping five of their last seven. They have not won consecutive games at home since November 6 and 8.

Despite boasting a scoring trio of Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd, New Jersey ranks next to last in the NBA in scoring at 91.6 points per contest.

Kidd, who passed Gary Payton to move into sixth place on the NBA's all-time assists list in the Nets' 101-83 loss to Detroit on Wednesday, is averaging a career-low 11 points per game on 36.7 percent shooting.

The Wizards are a surprising one-game over .500 and are on their third point guard of the season after injuries to Gilbert Arenas and Antonio Daniels. Roger Mason has stepped in nicely, averaging over 15 points since being inserted into the starting lineup.

The teams have split two games this season, with each winning on their own home floor.
