Timberwolves look to avoid worst start in franchise history

Dec 29, 2007 - 3:24 PM Minnesota (4-24) at Seattle (8-21) 10:00 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) - The Minnesota Timberwolves will look to avoid the worst 29-game start in franchise history when they visit the Seattle SuperSonics on Saturday.

The 4-24 start matches Minnesota's 1991-92 campaign when the Timberwolves finished a franchise-worst 15-67. However, Minnesota did win game No. 29 of that season to improve to 5-24.

If this season's Timberwolves look to avoid the dubious mark, they will have to snap a 10-game road losing streak. Minnesota also is a league-worst 1-14 away from home.

Al Jefferson has been the lone bright spot for the Timberwolves, but had his eight-game double-double streak snapped in Friday's 109-98 loss to Portland. Jefferson had 22 points and seven rebounds in what was Minnesota's third game of a season-long five-game road trip.

The Sonics have been struggling as well, losing four of their last five, including a 104-96 setback to Boston on Thursday.

Rookie Kevin Durant has led Seattle in scoring in each of the last four games, averaging 23.3 points over that span.

Seattle has won the last four meetings between the teams, including a 99-88 victory on December 14 in Minnesota.
