Gordon, Bulls to face Bobcats

Jan 2, 2008 - 1:51 PM Chicago (11-18) at Charlotte (11-18) 7:00 pm EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) - Jim Boylan is no longer undefeated as coach of the Chicago Bulls, but he certainly has his team rolling offensively.

The Bulls will look to top the century mark in points for the fourth straight game under Boylan when they visit the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday.

One of the worst offensive clubs in the league under coach Scott Skiles for the first 25 games of the season, the Bulls still rank last in the NBA in field goal percentage at 41.7 percent, but have produced at a 45 percent clip in Boylan's three games in charge.

The biggest beneficiary of the rejuvenated offense is guard Ben Gordon, who has averaged 31.7 points since being moved into the sixth-man role by Boylan.

Gordon, who had been a starter for Skiles, scored 39 in Chicago's 112-110 loss to the Orlando Magic on Monday, including a 3-pointer with with seven seconds left that tied the contest. Orlando's Hedo Turkoglu hit a jumper in the final seconds to deny the Bulls.

The Bobcats snapped a four-game slide in their last contest, getting 36 points from Gerald Wallace en route to a 107-103 overtime win over Indiana. Jason Richardson added 28 points in the win.

The Bulls have won both meetings with Charlotte by a combined 25 points, including a 91-82 victory here on December 5 in which Luol Deng scored 30 points.
