Bogut set for more time on sidelines
Jan 15, 2017 - 3:41 AM Andrew Bogut's NBA season has gone from bad to worse with the Australian centre ruled out indefinitely because of a hamstring injury.Bogut suffered a strain in his right hamstring in last Monday's 19-point loss to Minnesota and subsequently missed the team's win over Phoenix in Mexico on Thursday.
And while Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said the injury wasn't overly serious, he couldn't put a time on how long the 32-year-old would be out.
"He's probably out for the foreseeable near future," Carlisle said.
"We don't consider this serious. But we want to make sure that he's not only feeling good, but he's got (to have) his legs under him a little bit before we put him back out there."
Bogut shifted to the Mavericks for the 12th season of his NBA career from Golden State over the off-season, but injuries have caught up with him.
He missed 11 games in December with a knee injury, limping off twice since his return at the end of last month.
It has led the 12-27 Mavericks, who have battled injuries throughout the season, to play it safe with the Australia.
"We don't want to mess around with this," Carlisle said.
The Mavericks sit last in the Western Conference, and Bogut was the centre of controversy last week when he claimed comments he made on a Sydney radio show were taken out of context to imply he wanted out of the struggling club.
Bogut has made an extra two rebounds per game this season but his shooting accuracy dropped from 62.7 per cent to 45.1.
