Howard, Magic look for fifth straight win, face Nets

Jan 2, 2008 - 2:13 PM New Jersey (14-16) at Orlando (22-11) 7:00 pm EST

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic attempt to match a season-high five-game winning streak Wednesday when they host the New Jersey Nets.

On Monday, Hedo Turkoglu nailed a jumper as time expired in overtime, giving the Magic a thrilling 112-110 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Dwight Howard carried the Magic most of the way, collecting 17 points, 22 rebounds, five blocks and three steals.

Orlando, which won five straight from November 13-19, hopes to improve on a 7-6 home record after upping its league-best road record to 15-5 with its win over Chicago. The Magic have won two straight at home. The Nets also have played well recently, winning four of five after losing six of their previous seven contests.

New Jersey beat Milwaukee, 97-95, on Saturday as Vince Carter scored eight of his 23 points and Jason Kidd had 11 of his 17 in the fourth quarter to propel New Jersey to its second straight road victory.
