Hornets look to bounce back against Clippers

Jan 2, 2008 - 2:35 PM New Orleans (20-11) at La Clippers (10-19) 10:30 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The New Orleans Hornets look to begin a new winning streak when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

The Hornets had their five-game winning streak snapped on Monday, losing 97-92 to the Toronto Raptors. David West had 33 points and 11 rebounds to lead New Orleans, which blew a 10-point fourth quarter lead.

"We let this one get away," West said. "You have a team down 10, you're at home and there's under eight minutes to play. You've got to find a way to close that out."

Chris Paul, who was named Western Conference Player of the Week, had 23 points and 16 assists, but missed two free throws with 25 seconds left that could have put the Hornets ahead.

The Clippers snapped a six-game losing streak and won for just the fourth time in their last 19 games with a 91-82 triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. Chris Kaman led the way, collecting 16 points and 16 rebounds.

New Orleans won the first meeting, 98-89, in Los Angeles on November 24.
