Iverson, Nuggets visit lowly Timberwolves

Jan 4, 2008 - 2:04 PM Denver (19-12) at Minnesota (4-27) 8:00 pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - The Denver Nuggets proved that they can win a low-scoring game on Thursday. The Minnesota Timberwolves would like to win a game of any kind.

The Nuggets go for their third win of the season against the lowly Timberwolves when the two teams meet on Friday.

Denver has won four of its past five overall, including an 80-77 victory over San Antonio on Thursday. The 80-point effort was the Nuggets lowest offensive output this season.

"It wasn't a good looking win, but we'll take it," Denver's Carmelo Anthony said. "We're just letting everybody know we can play with the best out there."

Anthony and Allen Iverson are the only two players who have led the Nuggets in scoring for a game, and are the highest scoring duo in the league averaging just under 52 points combined.

The Timberwolves are coming off a 90-79 loss to Portland on Wednesday - their sixth consecutive defeat. Minnesota has lost five games in a row five times this season, but has yet to lose seven straight.

Al Jefferson had 29 points and 16 rebounds in Minnesota's most recent loss and is leading the team with 20.6 points and 12.2 rebounds this season.
