Kidd, Nets go for fifth straight win against Hawks

Jan 5, 2008 - 1:12 PM New Jersey (16-16) at Atlanta (15-15) 7:00 pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) - The New Jersey Nets go for their fifth straight win when they visit the slumping Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.

The Nets, who have won six of seven overall, are coming off a 102-96 victory over Charlotte on Friday.

Vince Carter scored 30 points in the victory and Jason Kidd had his eighth triple-double of the season - 95th in his career - with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.

The Hawks are currently on a three-game losing streak - all on the road - and return to Atlanta to open up a five-game homestand.

Atlanta was embarrassed in its latest loss on Friday, 113-91, to Indiana.

"We had a terrible game tonight," Hawks guard Anthony Johnson said. "We didn't do anything well, in any phase of the game."

Josh Childress tied a career high with 26 points in Friday's contest while leading-scorer Joe Johnson was held to just eight points on 3-of-11 shooting.

The Nets won the first meeting this season, 87-82, on November 6 and have won nine of the last 11 against the Hawks overall.
