Mavericks go for fourth straight win against struggling Timberwolves

Jan 6, 2008 - 2:59 PM Dallas (22-11) at Minnesota (4-28) 3:30 pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - The Dallas Mavericks go for their fourth consecutive win when they visit the miserable Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

While the Mavericks are well off last season's 67-15 pace, a win would give Dallas its third winning streak of at least four games this season.

Dirk Nowitzki has led Dallas in scoring in each of the last eight games and is averaging 22.0 points per game this season.

Dallas is coming off a 94-89 victory against Miami on Friday and has beaten Minnesota in five straight meetings.

Making it six straight against the Timberwolves wouldn't come as much of a surprise as beating Minnesota is what a lot of teams have done so far this season.

The Timberwolves are currently on a seven-game losing streak, which is their longest of the season.

Minnesota is ranked 28th in the league in scoring at 93.4 points per game and the Timberwolves allow opponents to shoot 46.5 percent from the field, which ranks 26th.

Al Jefferson leads the team, averaging 20.8 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. The 23-year-old center has also recorded a double-double in three straight contests.
