Spurs look for revenge against Warriors

Jan 7, 2008 - 2:29 PM San Antonio (23-9) at Golden State (19-15) 10:30 pm EST

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Things will be different on Monday when the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs face the Golden State Warriors.

When the teams last played on December 11, Spurs center Tim Duncan was on the bench with a sprained ankle as the Spurs endured a 96-84 loss here to the Warriors. It was just the second win for the Warriors at home against San Antonio since the 2003-04 season.

"I wouldn't call anything impressive in this game when you beat this team without Tim Duncan," Golden State coach Don Nelson said following the contest.

Golden State enters this contest looking to avoid its first three-game losing streak since starting the season with an 0-6 mark.

On Sunday, the Spurs posted an 88-82 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. San Antonio improved to just 6-7 on the road.

The game marked the return of Manu Ginobili, who had missed five games because of a sprained left index finger and had his hand wrapped to protect the injury. Ginobili scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter.
