James, Cavaliers look to stay hot vs. slumping Hawks

Jan 9, 2008 - 2:07 PM Cleveland (18-17) at Atlanta (15-16) 7:00 pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers aim for their season-high fifth straight when they visit the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.

James has been carrying the Cavaliers during their winning streak, averaging 30.3 points and 8.0 rebounds. On Sunday, he scored a franchise-record 24 points in the fourth quarter of a 93-90 win over the Toronto Raptors.

On Tuesday, the 22-year-old collected 23 points and eight rebounds despite sitting out the final 8:36 of a 95-79 win over the Seattle SuperSonics.

James is the last person the Hawks want to see. Atlanta, which is trying to avoid a season-high fifth straight loss, allowed the league's leading scorer to record 32 of his 36 points in the second half in a 98-94 loss last Wednesday.

History does not bode well for Atlanta, which is coming off a 113-107 loss to the New Jersey Nets on Saturday. The Hawks have lost 13 of the last 15 meetings against the Cavs, including six straight here.

Joe Johnson, who leads Atlanta with 21.3 points per game, will try and rebound from a 4-of-16 performance on Saturday.
