Heat aim to snap eight-game losing streak

Jan 9, 2008 - 2:31 PM Miami (8-27) at Milwaukee (14-20) 8:00 pm EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - The Miami Heat have hit a new low.

Dwyane Wade and the lowly Heat aim to snap a season-high eight-game losing streak when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

Two seasons removed from winning a championship, Miami has become one of the league's worst teams.

Wade had 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists, but that was not enough to prevent a 101-91 loss to the league-worst Minnesota Timberwolves (5-29) on Tuesday.

To add insult to injury, hours before that game it was reported that Wade's surgically repaired left shoulder is worse than expected and also has nerve damage. Meanwhile, Shaquille O'Neal (hip bursitis) has missed the last six games, and is not expected back for another week.

It all adds up to Miami's longest losing streak since a 12-game slide from November 8 to December 4, 2001.

As for Milwaukee, it enters with a bit of confidence having won two straight without its leading scorer. Michael Redd missed a third straight game with a deep thigh bruise, but Charlie Bell and Mo Williams scored 21 points apiece in a 87-83 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.

Williams scored 12 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Bucks to a 103-98 win at Miami last Wednesday.
