Red-hot Trail Blazers go for 12th straight home win

Jan 9, 2008 - 2:50 PM Golden State (20-15) at Portland (21-13) 10:00 pm EST

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) - The Portland Trail Blazers go for their 12th straight home win when they host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

Portland, which has won 16 of its last 17 games overall, has not lost at home since a 95-89 setback to the Indiana Pacers on November 28. The Blazers have not won 12 games in a row at the Rose Garden since December 1999 to February 2000.

However, the Blazers may be without guard Brandon Roy, who left Saturday's victory over Utah in the first quarter with a bruised tailbone. The reigning Rookie of the Year leads the team in scoring at 19.0 points per game.

Martell Webster stepped up nicely for Portland, scoring a career-high 26 points in Saturday's win.

The Warriors avoided a third straight loss with a hard-fought 130-121 overtime win over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.

Baron Davis had 34 points and 14 assists and Stephen Jackson scored 12 of his 29 points in overtime to help Golden State become the eighth team in the Western Conference get to the 20-win mark.

"Anytime you beat a good team it kind of builds your confidence," Jackson said. "We need to get our confidence up and the biggest thing for us was to get a win after losing two in a row and we did that."

The Blazers won the first meeting this season, 105-95, on December 12.
