Shorthanded Suns have tough test in Utah

Jan 10, 2008 - 2:46 PM Phoenix (25-10) at Utah (19-17) 10:30 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) - The Phoenix Suns seek their seventh win in eight games Thursday when they take on the Utah Jazz.

The Suns are coming off a 129-122 overtime victory against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, but were without two of their regular starters down the stretch.

Point guard Steve Nash left in the third quarter with flu-like symptoms and the Suns also were without Grant Hill, who underwent a successful appendectomy on Wednesday and will be out two to three weeks. Nash's status for Thursday is uncertain.

Raja Bell and Amare Stoudemire stepped up nicely for the Suns, scoring 27 and 25 points, respectively.

The Jazz, who are 13-3 at home, are attempting to move three games over .500 on the season for the first time since December 15.

Carlos Boozer scored 22 points Tuesday as the the Jazz coasted to a 111-89 victory over the Pacers.

After losing three of four contests to Utah last season, Phoenix posted a 103-98 victory in the first meeting this season on December 12.
