Johnson, Hawks look for second straight win

Jan 11, 2008 - 1:36 PM Washington (17-16) at Atlanta (16-16) 7:30 pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) - Joe Johnson and the Atlanta Hawks both rebounded to come out of a slump.

Johnson and the Hawks aim for a second straight win when they face the Washington Wizards on Friday.

Atlanta defeated Cleveland, 90-81, on Wednesday to halt a four-game losing streak.

Johnson, who averaged just 8.5 points on 25.9 percent (7-for-27) shooting in his previous two games, poured in 29 against the Cavaliers while adding seven rebounds and five assists.

The 2007 All-Star has had excellent recent success against the Wizards, posting a 26.8 scoring average in his last four games vs. Washington. He had 22 and 32 in two earlier contests as the teams split, each winning on the road.

The Wizards are coming off a 92-84 loss to Houston on Tuesday night.

Washington leading scorers Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler were held to 14 and 12 points respectively. However, the club, which has alternated wins and losses in its last five road games, has won seven of its last 10 against Atlanta.
