Warriors look to get back to high-scoring ways vs. Grizzlies
Jan 11, 2008 - 2:27 PM Memphis (10-25) at Golden State (20-16) 10:30 pm ESTOAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- After turning in their third-lowest scoring output of the season on Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors will be looking to get back to their high-scoring ways when they host the lowly Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.
The Warriors have been running into the Western Conference's elite lately, and the results have not been overly impressive. They have lost to Dallas, New Orleans and Portland while beating San Antonio this month.
Wednesday's 109-91 setback at Portland marked just the eighth time this season that Golden State failed to reach the century mark in points scored.
Top scorers Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson combined for just nine points on 3-of-15 shooting in the loss to the Trail Blazers. The Warriors shot 39 percent (35-of-89) as a team, including just 8-of-29 from the arc.
The Grizzlies should be an easy target for a team that likes to get out and run such as Golden State. Memphis allows 104.4 points per game, the fourth-worst mark in the NBA.
The Grizzlies suffered a 116-113 setback to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday and have lost eight of their last 10 games.
Memphis held a 10-point lead over the Kings midway through the fourth quarter, but failed to stop Brad Miller and John Salmons down the stretch.
The Warriors got 28 points and 12 rebounds out of Jackson in a 125-117 win over the Grizzlies on December 17 in the first meeting between the teams this season.
