Dismal Clippers searching for win vs. Mavericks
Jan 12, 2008 - 3:44 PM Dallas (25-11) at La Clippers (10-22) 10:30 pm ESTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Clippers can't seem to find a win in the new year and things won't get any easier on Saturday when they host NBA's hottest team, the Dallas Mavericks.
The Clippers have lost three in a row and nine of their last 10, failing to pick up a victory through their first three games of 2008.
Los Angeles couldn't break out of its slump during its last game on Wednesday, suffering a 113-106 setback to the Orlando Magic. Despite 27 points from Corey Maggette, the Clippers made just 3-of-13 3-pointers and committed 13 turnovers in the loss.
The Mavericks, meanwhile, extended their current winning streak to a season-high six games on Friday with a 90-70 triumph over the Seattle SuperSonics.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points and Josh Howard added 18 and 10 rebounds, but it was the defense that powered Dallas to victory, limiting the opposition to under 100 points for the eighth straight game.
The Mavericks have also held teams to less then 80 points in two of their last four games and are currently 10th in the NBA, allowing 96.3 points per game.
