Magic sign G Afflalo, C Birch

Jul 27, 2017 - 5:22 PM The Orlando Magic signed free-agent guard Arron Afflalo, the team announced on Thursday.

The team did not divulge terms of the deal, however league sources told ESPN that it was a one-year contract for $2.3 million.

Magic president Jeff Weltman and general manager John Hammond have history with Afflalo, whom they helped draft to the Detroit Pistons in 2007. The 31-year-old Afflalo enjoyed a career season with Orlando in 2013-14, averaging 18.2 points.

"Arron adds experience and depth to our backcourt," Weltman said. "He is an excellent 3-point shooter and a veteran that will help our young roster both on the court and in the locker room. We are excited to have Arron back in a Magic uniform."

Afflalo has averaged 11.3 points and 3.0 rebounds over 10 seasons in stops with the Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, Magic and Pistons.

Orlando also signed free-agent center Khem Birch to a contract on Thursday. The Montreal native averaged 7.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 37 games last season while playing for Olympiacos in Greece.
