Sixers look to end seven-game slide

Jan 15, 2008 - 2:38 PM Philadelphia (14-24) at Houston (20-18) 8:30 pm EST

HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers try to put an end to their seven-game losing streak when they visit host Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

The Sixers continued their losing ways Monday, dropping an 89-82 decision to the San Antonio Spurs.

"We usually go out on the floor and play hard night-in and night-out," 76ers coach Maurice Cheeks said. "It's a shame that they haven't been rewarded for their efforts. At some point it's going to turn for us."

Yao Ming carried the load with 30 points and 16 rebounds but it wasn't enough as Houston had its season-best five-game winning streak snapped with an 87-82 setback to the New Orleans Hornets on Sunday.

It was just the third loss in 10 games for the Rockets without injured superstar Tracy McGrady (knee), who is expected to return to the team for Saturday's matchup against San Antonio.

Philadelphia has won the last three meetings between the teams, including a 100-88 triumph on December 10.
