Hawks sign F Babbitt

Aug 9, 2017 - 9:54 PM The Atlanta Hawks signed forward Luke Babbitt, the team announced Wednesday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported he signed a one-year deal.

Babbitt played in 68 games, including 55 starts, for the Miami Heat last season. He averaged 4.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 15.7 minutes, while making 41.4 percent of his 3-point attempts.

"Luke is a proven veteran and adds another experienced player to our locker room," Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk said. "He is one of the premier long-range shooting big men in the league, has played a variety of roles over his career and will contribute to our team."

In seven NBA seasons, the 6-foot-9 forward has appeared in 331 games, including 93 starts, with Portland, New Orleans and Miami, averaging 4.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 14.0 minutes.
