Suns aim to continue home domination of Nets

Jan 20, 2008 - 2:25 PM New Jersey (18-21) at Phoenix (28-12) 8:00 pm EST

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Over the last 13 seasons, the New Jersey Nets have made eight playoff appearances, including two trips to the NBA Finals. One thing they haven't done in that time is record a road win against the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns look to extend their string of home wins against the Nets to 14 games when they meet Sunday at US Airways Center.

Phoenix has not lost to New Jersey at home since a 124-93 defeat on March 13, 1993. Only in the strike-shortened 1998-99 season did this trend stop, but only because the teams did not play that season.

This season, the Suns own one of the Western Conference's best home records at 14-4, including Friday's 115-95 win over Minnesota - the team's ninth time in 12 games.

Amare Stoudemire had 23 points and 11 rebounds while two-time MVP Steve Nash had 17 points and 13 assists in Friday's win for the Suns. Nash committed just one turnover while hitting all six of his field goal attempts and each of his four free throws.

The last time the Nets and Suns met on December 7, 2006, Nash had a career-high 42 points and 13 assists in a 161-157 double-overtime win at New Jersey.

New Jersey will be looking to rebound from Saturday's disappointing 120-107 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Richard Jefferson scored 21 points for the Nets, who have dropped five of six contests following a season-high five-game winning streak.
