Heat look to snap losing streak
Jan 21, 2008 - 2:10 PM Cleveland (21-18) at Miami (8-31) 8:00 pm ESTMIAMI (Ticker) -- The woeful Miami Heat attempt to snap a 13-game losing streak Monday when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Just 19 months removed from winning their first NBA title, the Heat are on their longest losing streak since dropping their first 17 contests in their expansion campaign in 1988-89.
"Maybe we should hang some more pictures of that trophy somewhere, so we can remember what it felt like to be in that moment," Heat coach Pat Riley said following Saturday's 88-84 loss to the New York Knicks. "We have to change the energy, somehow."
Miami has dropped the first three games of a season-high seven-game homestand.
While the Heat are reeling, the Cavaliers have started to turn things around. Cleveland has won three straight and seven of its last eight games to move a season-high three games over .500.
On Christmas Day, LeBron James scored 25 points to lead the Cavaliers to a 96-82 home win over the Heat.
