Nets hope to snap five-game losing streak vs. Kings

Jan 22, 2008 - 2:16 PM New Jersey (18-22) at Sacramento (17-22) 10:00 pm EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets look to end a five-game losing streak when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.

The Nets, who are playing the third game of a season-high six-game road trip on the West Coast, are coming off a humbling 116-92 defeat to Phoenix on Sunday.

Richard Jefferson had 24 points while Jason Kidd was held to just nine points and eight assists. New Jersey trailed by double digits for the majority of the contest, losing for the 14th straight time at Phoenix.

The Nets have not had much success at Arco Arena either, losing their last eight in Sacramento since 1997.

The Kings, who have won two straight and five of their last seven, are coming off a 110-104 victory at Indiana.

Sacramento has also gotten healthier in the last three games, with both Mike Bibby and Ron Artest returning to the lineup.

Bibby is averaging 15.3 points in his first three games after missing the first 2 1/2 months due to thumb surgery.

Kings leading scorer Kevin Martin also has returned to the lineup recently, averaging 26.0 points in his last five games after missing more than a month with a pulled groin.

Sacramento won the first meeting, 106-101, on December 18 in New Jersey.
