Dismal Sonics try to snap slide against slumping Hawks

Jan 25, 2008 - 3:14 PM Atlanta (17-21) at Seattle (9-33) 10:30 pm EST

SEATTLE (Ticker) - Nothing has gone right for the Seattle SuperSonics this season and things just keep getting worse.

The SuperSonics look to snap their franchise-record 12-game losing streak when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.

After opening the season with just three wins in the first month, Seattle appeared to be on the road to recovery in December, when it posted a 6-8 record, winning back-to-back games on two occasions.

However, the Sonics have yet to break into the win column in 2008 - a trend which may lead to their eventual departure from Seattle if the new ownership, headed by Clay Bennett, has their way and are allowed to move the team to Oklahoma City.

The Sonics were close to victory during their last game on Wednesday, but allowed a 13-point lead to slip away in the final eight minutes, eventually falling, 109-107, to the Houston Rockets.

The Hawks haven't had much success lately either, losing their last four games, including a 107-100 setback to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

Atlanta is just 5-12 away from home this season and will play its next four games on the road.
