76ers seeking fifth straight win vs. Knicks
Jan 25, 2008 - 3:42 PM Philadelphia (16-27) at New York (13-28) 7:30 pm ESTNEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers look to continue their dominance over the New York Knicks when the two teams meet on Friday.
The 76ers have won four consecutive games and eight of the last nine against the Knicks, but have not won five straight vs. New York since 1985-86.
The bad news is that the 76ers enter Friday's contest on a two-game losing streak with 10 losses in their last 12 games.
Philadelphia continued its slide on Wednesday, suffering a 86-78 setback to the Detroit Pistons. The 76ers shot just 43 percent from the field against the Pistons and committed 19 turnovers.
Despite a miserable season, the Knicks have won five of their last nine games but failed to get past the NBA's best team during their last game on Monday, falling, 109-93, to the Boston Celtics.
The loss came just one day before Stephon Marbury had surgery to remove bone spurs from his left ankle. The Knicks point guard had missed six straight games and 16 of the last 25 while nursing the injury but said last week that he would try and return before the end of the season.
