Paul, surging Hornets set to visit Duncan, Spurs
Jan 26, 2008 - 3:04 PM New Orleans (30-12) at San Antonio (28-13) 8:30 pm ESTSAN ANTONIO (Ticker) - Chris Paul will look to lead the New Orleans Hornets to their eighth consecutive victory when they visit the defending champion San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.
The 22-year-old Paul, who despite great numbers was not selected as a starter for the All-Star Game, has dished out at least 10 assists in each game during the club's current winning streak.
The third-year pro also had six straight double doubles before registering just eight points in Friday's 111-92 triumph over the Los Angeles Clippers.
New Orleans, which has never won a division title in its 20-year history, leads the Southwest by one game over the Dallas Mavericks, and San Antonio sits 1 1/2 games back.
The Hornets are seeking a franchise-record eighth straight road win but standing in their way is the Spurs, who are the league's best home team with a 20-4 record at the AT&T Center.
Duncan, a four-time NBA champion, is averaging 19.2 points and 11.2 rebounds this season. He has posted six consecutive double doubles.
The 31-year-old center scored 30 points on 14-of-19 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds in Thursday's 90-89 victory over the lowly Miami Heat.
