Cavaliers look to continue torrid January

Jan 30, 2008 - 2:32 PM Cleveland (24-19) at Portland (26-18) 9:00 pm EST

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) - While the Portland Trail Blazers have cooled in January, the Cleveland Cavaliers have warmed up.

The surging Cavaliers aim for their 11th win in 13 games when they visit the Trail Blazers on Wednesday.

Cleveland, which has won four straight on the road, seeks to win five in a row away from home for the first time since 1998. LeBron James scored 41 points, leading the Cavs to a 98-95 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

The victory may have been a costly one, however, as forward Anderson Varejao sprained his ankle and is out indefinitely. The team is already without starting guard Sasha Pavlovic, who is out for at least six weeks with a sprained left foot.

Cleveland should receive a stern challenge from Portland, which is 18-4 at home.

After a stretch where they won 17 of 18 games, the Blazers are just 4-5 in their last nine contests.

Brandon Roy scored 24 points as the Blazers rallied for a 94-93 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.
