Jazz face Wizards seeking seventh straight win

Feb 1, 2008 - 3:14 PM Utah (28-18) at Washington (24-20) 8:00 pm EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - The Utah Jazz look complete their longest winning streak in more than a year when they visit the Washington Wizards on Friday.

The Jazz have won six straight games, and a seventh consecutive win would lift them to their longest unbeaten streak since winning eight in a row in November, 2006.

Utah continued its strong play on Wednesday as Deron Williams recorded his fifth straight double-double with 22 points and 12 assists during a 100-89 victory over the New York Knicks.

Wednesday's victory lifted the Jazz to an 11-2 record in December and vaulted the them into first place in the Northwest division, a half game in front of the Denver Nuggets.

The Wizards are looking to rebound from perhaps their worst loss of the season. On Wednesday they suffered a 122-83 setback to the Toronto Raptors.

Washington, which shot just 37 percent from the field against the Raptors, were without All-Star Caron Butler, who missed his second straight game with a hip flexor strain.

Butler, the team's leading scorer at 21.9 points per game, hasn't played since scoring a season-high 40 points during an overtime loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday.
