Nets seek fifth straight road win over Hawks

Feb 2, 2008 - 2:46 PM New Jersey (20-26) at Atlanta (18-24) 7:00 pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) - The New Jersey Nets would like to continue their winning ways against the Atlanta Hawks when they meet on Saturday.

New Jersey enters riding a four-game winning streak over the Hawks, who have dropped three straight contests and seven of eight overall.

On Friday, Richard Jefferson scored 25 points and Josh Boone added 15 to help the Nets end a seven-game road losing skid with a 94-85 victory over the Miami Heat.

"Any time we can pass the ball and knock shots down like we did, we're tough to beat," New Jersey All-Star guard Jason Kidd said.

Jefferson should draw the defensive assignment on Atlanta's Josh Smith, who collected 34 points and nine rebounds in the Hawks' 113-107 setback to the Nets here on January 5.

Atlanta is coming off its season-long five-game tour of the Western Conference that concluded with Tuesday's 95-88 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Hawks All-Star swingman Joe Johnson is glad to return home after failing to reach the 20-point plateau during the past five games. But he's averaging 14.7 points over 17 career outings against New Jersey.
