Mavericks hope to rebound against surging Magic

Feb 4, 2008 - 3:29 PM Dallas (31-15) at Orlando (31-18) 7:00 pm EST

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) - The Dallas Mavericks hope to rebound from their worst offensive game of the season when they visit the surging Orlando Magic on Monday.

Continuing to play without Devin Harris, Dallas suffered its second straight loss, 90-67, at Detroit on Sunday. The Mavericks shot just 30 percent (23-of-76) from the field and the game was the first time that the Mavericks failed to score 70 all season.

Leading scorer Dirk Nowitzki made only 3-of-18 field goals, but had his fifth straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Magic come in on a four-game winning streak after a 121-115 victory over Indiana on Saturday.

Hedo Turkoglu has scored at least 20 points in his last six games, and is averaging 25.0 points per game during the winning streak. Turkoglu had 23 points and eight assists against Indiana.

All-Star Dwight Howard continues to dominate, posting six straight double-doubles. The 22-year-old center leads the league in rebounding at 14.8 per contest.

Orlando has won its last five home games but have lost three straight meetings with Dallas and will be looking to avoid a second straight sweep in the season series.

The Mavericks, who have a 20-3 home record, are just 11-12 on the road this season.
