Jazz seeking ninth straight victory

Feb 4, 2008 - 3:40 PM New Orleans (32-14) at Utah (30-18) 9:00 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) - The streaking Utah Jazz go for their ninth straight victory when they host the New Orleans Hornets in a matchup of first place teams on Monday.

The Jazz, who are tied with the Dallas Mavericks for the league's best home record at 20-3, have won 10 straight at the EnergySolutions Arena.

Deron Williams has posted seven straight double-doubles, averaging 15.9 points and 12.6 assists during that span. The point guard had 16 points and 11 assists in Utah's 110-91 victory over Memphis on Saturday.

The winning streak has propelled Utah to the top of the Northwest Division, while New Orleans is clinging to one-game lead over Dallas (31-15) in the Southwest Division.

The Hornets, meanwhile, are hoping to avoid a third straight loss after a nine-game winning streak.

All-Star Chris Paul had 15 points and 19 assists on Friday as New Orleans dropped a 112-103 decision at Sacramento.

The Jazz won the first meeting, 99-71, in Utah on November 23.
