New-look Grizzlies look to end losing ways

Feb 5, 2008 - 3:23 PM Milwaukee (18-30) at Memphis (13-34) 8:00 pm EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - With two trades having cleared much of their frontcourt depth over the last week, the Memphis Grizzlies know they will need time to adjust to their new personnel.

Without Pau Gasol and Stromile Swift, the new-look Grizzlies look to halt their losing ways when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

On Friday, Memphis dealt the 7-0 Gasol - the team's second-leading scorer and leading rebounder - to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for center Kwame Brown, guard Javaris Crittenton, two first-round draft picks and cash considerations. On Monday, the Grizzlies traded Swift - a 6-9 forward - to the New Jersey Nets for center Jason Collins.

Memphis felt it was time to part with Gasol and Swift as it had dropped of 24 of its last 31 games. In their first game without Gasol, the Grizzlies were routed by the Utah Jazz, 110-91, on Saturday.

While Memphis has the league's third-worst home record at 9-17, Milwaukee owns the fifth-worst road mark at 5-22.

The Bucks, who have lost seven consecutive games on the road, have dropped their last three contests and 10 of their last 13, including Saturday's 91-83 home loss to the Houston Rockets. While leading scorer Michael Redd was sitting out his third straight game, Andrew Bogut scored 21 points to pace Milwaukee.
