Magic try to snap three-game slide in Atlanta
Nov 5, 2006 - 3:49 PM Orlando (1-1) at Atlanta (1-1) 2:00 pm ESTATLANTA (Ticker) -- Overall, the Orlando Magic have not had any issues with the Atlanta Hawks. The lone exception is a three-game losing streak at Philips Arena.
The Magic have won eight of their past 12 regular-season matchups against the Hawks. However, they will try to prevent their fourth straight loss here Sunday.
Orlando will also be looking to shake off a tough 105-103 setback against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. Superstar Allen Iverson made a clutch bank shot with just 2.2 seconds remaining before Grant Hill's potential game-tying jumper fell short as time expired.
Hill scored 25 points and Hedo Turkoglu added 15 and nine rebounds for the Magic, who allowed the Sixers to shoot 56 percent (37-of-66) from the field. Atlanta native Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson had 15 points apiece.
The Hawks were successful in their home opener Friday, posting a 102-92 victory over the New York Knicks. Joe Johnson collected 30 points and eight assists and Zaza Pachulia added 22 for Atlanta, which forced 17 turnovers.
