Iverson looks to guide 76ers to 3-0 start

Nov 5, 2006 - 3:55 PM Miami (1-1) at Philadelphia (2-0) 2:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers are off to an unblemished start and hope to keep it that way as the defending champions come calling to the city of "Brotherly Love".

Superstar Allen Iverson and the Sixers welcome in the Miami Heat's 1-2 punch of Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade for a Sunday matinee matchup.

Iverson scored a season-high 39 points, including the game-winning shot with two seconds remaining to help Philadelphia escaped with an 105-103 triumph at Orlando on Friday. He also handed out season-high 10 assists.

Sixers fourth-year forward Kyle Korver chipped in a season-best 28 points on 10-of-13 shooting. He connected on all four of his 3-point attempts.

The 1996 top overall selection, Iverson is averaging 27 points per game for his career against Miami. With a win, the 76ers would capture their first three-game winning streak to begin a campaign since 2000-01.

On Friday, the Heat bounced back from their season-opening thrashing by the Chicago Bulls with a 91-85 victory over the New Jersey Nets. O'Neal collected a season-high 21 points and nine rebounds while Wade netted 17 points.

Miami won all three meetings last season with Philadelphia, including a 104-85 triumph on April 14. However, the Sixers have won nine of their last 11 in the series here.
