Webber, Warriors host slumping Wizards
Feb 11, 2008 - 4:24 PM Washington (24-26) at Golden State (29-20) 10:30 pm ESTOAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Chris Webber's reunion tour continues Monday as the Golden State Warriors host the struggling Washington Wizards - another one of his former teams.
After spending his rookie season of 1994 in Golden State, Webber forced a trade and ended up in Washington.
The former Rookie of the Year averaged 21.4 points in four seasons with the Wizards before being dealt to Sacramento in 1999.
Webber, who rejoined the Warriors on Tuesday, had two points and five rebounds in 15 minutes of Saturday's 105-102 victory over the Kings. It remains to be seen how much he will play in this one as the Warriors ease him into the rotation.
Another uncertainty is the status of Stephen Jackson, who suffered a sprained ankle in Saturday's win but did not leave the game. Jackson scored 26 points and hit a pair of crucial free throws late to help the Warriors hang on.
If Jackson cannot go, the Warriors will need Monta Ellis to continue his hot play.
Ellis scored 16 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter against Sacramento. He also scored 25 in the loss to Chicago.
The Wizards, who have been battling injuries recently, come in on a seven-game losing streak after dropping a 108-107 decision to Phoenix on Sunday.
Six players scored in double figures during Sunday's defeat, led by Antawn Jamison's 28 points and 10 rebounds.
Washington has been without All-Star forward Caron Butler for six of the last eight games due to a left hip injury, and point guard Antonio Daniels missed Sunday's contest with a sprained left ankle sustained in Friday's loss to Denver.
It is uncertain when either player will return.
