Jazz's Exum set for shoulder surgery
Oct 17, 2017 - 3:30 AM Utah Jazz guard Dante Exum will undergo shoulder surgery next week, the team announced Monday.The procedure, set for Oct. 24, is intended to stabilize the AC joint in Exum's separated left shoulder. The operation could threaten his season, although the Jazz did not offer a timetable for his recovery.
Exum was injured in a preseason game against the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 6. Phoenix guard TJ Warren, attempting to block a layup attempt, came down heavily on Exum's shoulder, sending the Utah guard to the floor writhing in pain.
The 22-year-old Exum, the fifth overall selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, averaged 6.2 points, 1.7 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 66 games (26 starts) last season.
A native of Australia, the 6-foot-6 Exum sat out the entire 2015-16 season after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament while playing for his national team.
