Anthony aims to continue domination of Wade, Heat

MIAMI (Ticker) - Carmelo Anthony hasn't enjoyed the postseason success that his fellow draft classmates LeBron James and Dwyane Wade have, but he hasn't had much trouble playing against them lately during the regular season.

Anthony and the Denver Nuggets look for their sixth straight win against Wade's Miami Heat on Tuesday.

The No. 3 pick in the 2003 draft, Anthony improved to 8-2 in his personal rivalry with James - the top selection in that same draft - on Sunday with a 113-83 rout of the Cavaliers. He scored 27 points in the win to follow up his career-high 49-point performance on Friday in a win over the Washington Wizards.

With a win on Tuesday, Anthony can match that same 10-game record over the Heat and Wade, who was the fifth pick in 2003.

Miami, mired in one of the worst losing streaks in franchise history, got a strong effort from Shawn Marion in his Heat debut with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Marion, along with guard Marcus Banks, was acquired in Wednesday's blockbuster deal that sent 14-time All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal to the Phoenix Suns.

However, he could not help his new team snap out of their long cold spell as they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers, 104-94, on Sunday.

The loss represented the Heat's seventh straight loss and their 22nd setback in their last 23 games but provided some hope to Miami, which nearly overcame a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit against one of the NBA's best teams.
