Bobcats look to snap seven-game losing streak

Feb 13, 2008 - 11:21 AM Atlanta (21-27) at Charlotte (18-34) 7:00 pm EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Hornets hope to avoid setting the mark for their longest losing streak of the season against Atlanta on Wednesday.

The Bobcats have lost seven in a row for the second time, but they were able to halt the skid the first time with a victory over Cleveland.

Forward Gerald Wallace, Charlotte's leading scorer at 21.2 points per game, has missed four of the last five games due to a strained foot. With the All-Star break coming up, Wallace is not expected to play against the Hawks.

"It makes no sense for us to rush Gerald," Bobcats coach Sam Vincent said.

Atlanta has dropped three straight, including a 94-90 home loss to Detroit on Tuesday. The Hawks scored only 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Joe Johnson is averaging 32.5 points and 8.0 assists in a pair of Atlanta victories over the Bobcats this season. Wednesday's game kicks off a six-game road trip for the Hawks that concludes February 25 in San Antonio.
