Celtics await Knicks in final game before break

Feb 13, 2008 - 11:23 AM New York (15-36) at Boston (40-9) 7:30 pm EST

BOSTON (Ticker) - The Boston Celtics have had their way with a lot of teams in the NBA this season, but perhaps none more so than the New York Knicks.

The Celtics have beaten the Knicks twice this season by an average of 30.5 points and look to make it three straight Wednesday night.

When the two teams met in Boston on November 29, the Celtics posted a 104-59 blowout.

Boston ran its winning streak to four games Tuesday with a 104-97 victory at Indiana. The Celtics were without Kevin Garnett (abdominal strain) for the eighth consecutive game. Kendrick Perkins (strained left shoulder) also sat out for Boston.

The Celtics have won their last four games at home to improve to 22-4 on the season. The Celtics are now 6-2 without Garnett, who is not expected to play in Boston's final game before the All-Star break.

The Knicks, who reportedly are trying to trade Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry, snapped an eight-game losing streak Saturday with a 99-98 win at Milwaukee. The game kicked off a four-game road trip for the Knicks.

The Celtics have six players averaging double figures this season against New York, which likely will be without point guard Stephon Marbury for the rest of the year following left ankle surgery in January.
