Mavericks, Trail Blazers look to end losing streaks

Feb 13, 2008 - 11:25 AM Portland (28-23) at Dallas (34-17) 8:30 pm EST

DALLAS (Ticker) - The Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers are both mired in losing streaks.

One of those teams will snap their slide Wednesday when the Trail Blazers visit the Mavericks.

Dallas has suffered a pair of dismal losses in their last two games following a three-game winning streak. After losing by 19 points to the New Jersey Nets on Sunday, the Mavericks fell, 84-76, to the lowly Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Dirk Nowitzki scored just 15 points on 4-of-15 shooting against the 76ers. Nowitzki, last season's NBA Most Valuable Player, had averaged 23 points while hitting nearly 49 percent of his shots from the field during the three-game win streak.

Despite suffering their third straight loss, 95-83, to the Houston Rockets on Monday, the Blazers were given a boost by the return of All-Star Brandon Roy, who had missed the previous two games because of a death in the family.

Roy, who scored 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting, is Portland's leading scorer at 19.7 points per game.
