Rockets seeking eighth straight victory

Feb 13, 2008 - 11:26 AM Sacramento (23-26) at Houston (31-20) 8:30 pm EST

HOUSTON (Ticker) - The All-Star break is coming at the wrong time for the Houston Rockets.

Houston aims to extend its winning streak to eight games against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday in the last contest before the midseason gala.

Yao Ming scored 25 points with seven rebounds and Tracy McGrady added 17 as the Rockets posted a 95-83 victory over Portland on Monday.

After posting eight straight road wins, the Rockets returned home and quickly reeled off three wins - all by double digits. As a result, Houston has won 11 of 12 and is on its longest winning streak since winning the last seven games of the 2004-05 season.

It seems the only thing that can slow the Rockets is All-Star weekend.

Meanwhile, the Kings are looking to bounce back from an embarrassing 107-94 loss to the lowly Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. Sacramento, which has lost two straight, fell to just 7-16 on the road and 1-12 vs. the Western Conference away from home.

Kevin Martin scored 33 points for the Kings, who shot a dismal 37 percent (34-of-91) and fell to just 1-19 when failing to score at least 100 points.

Houston swept the season series last season, 3-0. Two of the wins came in overtime, while the most recent was a 112-106 victory in Sacramento on April 8 behind 40 points from McGrady.
